Redwood: Red and Brown Patchwork in a King Size Handmade Quilt

Handmade king patchwork quilt in red, brown, tan, cream, and white triangle blocks with a dark brown floral border and red binding, shown flat from above.
Redwood – 102″ x 93″ (king)

Redwood is a study in warm, traditional color: deep reds, earthy browns, soft tans, cream, and white, all arranged in a busy field of triangle patchwork. The finished quilt has the energy of a scrappy traditional design, but the repeated triangular shapes give it a stronger graphic structure than a simple fabric collection would have on its own.

The center of the quilt is pieced from many different red, brown and neutral prints. Florals, paisleys, dots, and small-scale textures shift across the surface, so the eye keeps finding new combinations of color and pattern. Some blocks read as bold red-and-white geometry; others are quieter, with tan and brown fabrics softening the overall design. The darker brown border gives the quilt a grounded frame, while the narrow red binding ties the edge back to the patchwork center.

The in-process studio photo for this quilt shows the scale and construction before the border and finishing steps took over visually. On the design wall, the quilt top reads as a large field of red and brown movement, with the unfinished edges making the process visible. In the finished full-view photo, the border and binding complete that movement and turn the quilt into a practical bed piece.

Redwood measures 102 inches wide x 93 inches long, making it a king size quilt with generous bed coverage. It is made from 100% cotton fabrics with cotton fill, and the reverse side is a coordinating red paisley print. The result is a warm, rustic handmade quilt that fits naturally in a cabin, farmhouse, lodge, or traditional bedroom setting.

Redwood is available in my Etsy shop as a finished handmade king size quilt.
