Christmas Stag: A Winter Woodland Embroidery in Red, Cream and Black

Christmas Stag is built around line rather than patchwork. The central deer and surrounding winter imagery are created with dense machine embroidery, using black outline stitching almost like pen-and-ink drawing across a cream fabric ground.

The design includes holly, berries, pinecones, evergreen branches, distant mountains, and small stands of trees. White embroidery adds another layer of texture within selected leaves, branches, and landscape elements, while red is used sparingly for the berries. That limited palette keeps the composition from becoming visually busy and gives the red accents more weight than they would have in a multicolor design.

Branching antlers and seasonal foliage create an elongated vertical composition that suits the relatively compact 17″ x 20″ format. A solid red binding gives the piece a crisp outer edge and repeats the berry color without competing with the embroidery.

The wall hanging is made from 100% cotton fabric with cotton batting and has a sewn hanging sleeve on the back for display with a buyer-supplied rod or dowel.
