Farm Scene began with an embroidered rural vignette packed with small details: a barn marked “Harvest Festival”, a vintage truck, pumpkins, cornstalks, fencing, trees, and chickens. The black linework gives the center panel the look of an illustrated sketch, so the surrounding fabrics were chosen to provide strong structure without competing with that detail.
A narrow red frame sets off the embroidery first. Beyond it, cream floral-print fabric opens up the composition, while black pieced bands and checkerboard corner units create a strong geometric framework. Small red squares repeat the center border color and help connect the inner and outer sections.
The wide red border gives the finished piece much of its visual weight. Quilting across that area adds texture and movement, while the center remains comparatively restrained so the embroidered farm scene stays easy to read. The black binding then finishes the edge with a clean, graphic line.
The wall hanging measures 32″ wide x 27″ high and is made from cotton and linen fabrics with wool batting. Its horizontal proportions suit a broader wall area and work particularly well above furniture.
A sewn hanging sleeve on the back allows it to be displayed with a buyer-supplied rod or dowel.
Farm Scene is available in the Creeksong Quilts Etsy shop.
