Every Which Way — the name of this quilt came directly from the design. The surface is full of directional movement: blue, green, teal, aqua, and purple triangle units turn across the white background, creating a lively geometric pattern that seems to shift as you look at it.

The overall impression is modern, but not severe. The crisp white ground gives the composition plenty of open space, while the cool-color triangles keep the design active and playful. Some sections read like arrows, some like flying-geese formations, and some as fractured diamonds or pinwheels. That mix of order and motion gives the quilt its personality.

I especially like the contrast between the pieced geometry and the quilting texture. The triangle patchwork is angular and graphic, while the allover swirl quilting softens the surface and adds movement in a completely different way. From a distance, the quilt reads as a bold modern bed quilt; up close, the stitching gives the white background and colored fabrics a more dimensional, handmade quality.

Every Which Way measures 93″ x 93″, a generous queen size. It is made with 100% cotton fabric and wool batting, with a coordinating green print on the reverse. The palette is strongest in blue, green, teal, aqua, and purple, with the white background keeping the overall look clean and bright.

As a portfolio piece, this quilt sits firmly in the modern geometric side of my work. It would suit a contemporary bedroom, a color-focused guest room, or any space where handmade bedding can also function as a large-scale textile design.
