Blooming Garden: Embroidery, Patchwork Stars, and Spring Color

Handmade embroidered floral throw quilt with peach star blocks, yellow-framed flower embroidery, sage green accents, and pale blue-green border.
Blooming Garden – 78″ x 78″ (throw)

Blooming Garden conveys the feeling of a spring garden translated into cloth: individual flower embroideries, soft yellow frames, peach star blocks, sage green accents, and a pale blue-green border that gives the whole quilt a calm, finished edge.

The embroidered floral blocks provide the focal points, each one centered like a small botanical study. Around them, the pieced stars add motion and structure, keeping the quilt from becoming simply a set of flower pictures. The cream background and soft sashing give the eye room to move between the embroidery, the peach star points, and the green corner details.

This is one of those quilts where the longarm quilting matters to the overall surface. The floral and vine quilting motifs echo the garden theme without competing with the embroidered blocks. Across the wider blue-green border, the quilting adds texture and movement, while through the center it helps connect the star blocks and flower blocks into one unified piece.

At approximately 78″ x 78″, Blooming Garden is a generous square throw. It has enough size to use across a sofa, reading nook, guest room, or the foot of a bed, and it also has the presence to work as a large textile display. The quilt is made with a 100% cotton top and backing and filled with wool batting, giving it lightweight warmth and a slightly loftier hand than a flatter cotton-filled quilt.

The palette is soft rather than muted: peach, yellow, sage green, cream, pale blue-green, and multicolor floral embroidery. The result is traditional in construction, garden-inspired in subject, and bright enough for spring or summer rooms without becoming overly sweet.
