Starry Skies: A Modern Patchwork Star Quilt Framed in Mint Green

A flat lay view of a square-patterned cotton quilt featuring multicolored geometric stars on a white background, enclosed by a solid mint green outer border.
Starry Skies – 66″ x 76″ (twin)

Starry Skies is a bright patchwork quilt built around a classic friendship star motif, but the overall effect is distinctly modern. Multicolored stars in yellow, blue, pink, orange, and purple move across a crisp white background, with a soft mint green border framing the design and giving the stronger colors room to stand out.

The arrangement creates plenty of movement without feeling overly busy. Repeated star blocks are broken up by the broad white spaces between them, so the eye moves easily from one group of colors to the next. The mint border pulls the composition together and gives the quilt a cool, fresh finish.

This quilt measures 66″ by 76″, making it a generous throw or a useful overlay for a standard Twin bed. It works equally well folded across the foot of a bed, draped over a sofa, or displayed where the geometric pattern can be seen in full.

Starry Skies is made entirely from cotton: 100% cotton fabric on the front and back, with cotton batting inside. It was machine pieced and machine quilted, giving the surface enough stitched texture to complement the strong geometry without competing with it.

I especially like the contrast between the traditional star vocabulary and the lighter, more graphic presentation. The white background and mint border keep the quilt from reading as conventionally traditional, while the varied colors give each star its own character.
