Black Diamonds is built around contrast: a deep black field gives the piecing a strong graphic structure, while the digitally printed fabric introduces a completely different kind of movement. Its turquoise, violet, coral, jade, blue, green, cream, and shell-like colors have the shifting appearance of mother-of-pearl, abalone, oyster shell, and polished stone.

The center of the runner develops that contrast through nested diamonds and angular patchwork. Portions of the multicolor print appear as larger uninterrupted areas, then break into smaller triangles and geometric fragments as the design moves outward. Against the black background, those fragments seem almost suspended within the composition.

The quilting follows a similarly geometric approach. Radiating straight lines fan through the black areas, adding texture while reinforcing the direction of the piecing. Because the threadwork is most visible through shadow and surface relief rather than color, it adds another layer without competing with the printed fabric.

This 28″ x 44″ runner is made from 100% cotton fabric with wool batting and has a coordinating navy print on the reverse. Its proportions make it useful as a table runner, buffet or console accent, or a short decorative bed accent where a compact textile piece is appropriate.
