This embroidered insect quilt combines a crisp blue, green, and white patchwork grid with six detailed embroidered insects: butterflies, a dragonfly, ladybug, bee, and beetle. The embroidered blocks interrupt the geometric patchwork just enough to make the bugs the stars of the quilt without turning the whole design into a novelty print.

The quilt measures 56″ wide x 74″ long. That makes it a generous lap quilt, a comfortable choice for a toddler bed, or a colorful topper for a Twin bed. The nature theme also works well in a child’s room or nursery without feeling limited to very young children.

The quilt is made from 100% cotton fabric and backing with cotton batting. Longarm quilting in flowing swirls and loops adds texture across the white background, colored squares, and blue-green border while allowing the embroidered insects to remain clearly visible.

I especially like the contrast between the orderly patchwork grid and the individually stitched bugs. The strong blues and greens keep the overall design clean and graphic, while the embroidery adds the small details that reward a closer look.
